Ravens Select TE Isaiah Likely with 139th Pick in the 2022 NFL Draft

Likely Believes Versatility Is His Strength

At 6-foot-4, Likely is another tight end who likes to move all over the field, and he looks forward to joining Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman’s tight-end friendly system.

“I come to a unique offense like the Ravens where you have a great quarterback in Lamar Jackson, a bunch of pieces and a Pro Bowler in Mark Andrews,” Likely said. “The Ravens really play with more than one with a tight end, so I know that playing time’s in balance for the first year.”

He Looks Forward to Playing With Lamar Jackson

Likely is a fan of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and looks forward to building chemistry with him.

“Lamar Jackson does a lot of great things with the ball in his hands, whether it’s RPOs, drop-backs or the pocket’s collapsing and he’s just looking down the field,” Likely said. “Lamar Jackson’s a playmaker. He’s always trying to find eyes down the field, look for the tight end longshot.”

Likely Isn’t Deterred By Baltimore Drafting Another Tight End

Just 11 picks earlier in the fourth round, the Ravens selected another tight end in Charlie Kolar of Iowa State. Likely believes there’s enough room in the offense for both he and Kolar to flourish.

“Knowing what I bring to an offense, it really didn’t matter whether a team drafted one tight end, three tight ends, or five,” Likely said. “I know that what I do on the field is unmatched. Just being able to bring my talents to the Ravens is a blessing.”

Likely said he met Kolar at the Senior Bowl and came away impressed. The two rookies will spend plenty of time together in the tight end room.

“He’s a really intellectual player,” Likely said. “I heard he had a 3.99 GPA. Just seeing the way he studied the playbook at the Senior Bowl showed me that he takes his job really seriously, just like me.”

Likely Felt He Was Overlooked in High School

Likely was an all-state wide receiver in high school at Everett High in Cambridge, Mass., But he wasn’t heavily recruited decided on Coastal Carolina. He remained loyal to that program and never thought about transferring to a larger school.

“I got to Coastal really being just underrecruited, overlooked,” Likely said. “I wasn’t going to transfer. Showing that I could do it with the best of the best in Mobile (Senior Bowl week) just amped me up to another level and showed me I could do it in the NFL.”
